First Period? A Menstrual Cup Is Better Than a Tampon!

I’m 14 years old and my period has just started. I’m considering Lunette, am I too young?

Congratulations, and welcome to womanhood!

You'll love Lunette: it’s comfortable for sure, but you can also play sports, and do all the things you love during your period.

We recommend the smaller Lunette Cup Model 1 for to start you out right. Inserting Lunette the first time might leave you puzzled, but only because it’s a new experience, not because it’s difficult. That said, you might need to practice a bit more in the beginning — you may not be as familiar with your anatomy, and your vaginal muscles are tighter than those of older women. If you have an intact hymen, you should be aware that inserting the cup may rupture it. What we know: practice makes perfect, and we have many young customers who use Lunette with great success. We recommend taking a deep breath and just giving it a try.

The best time is during your period in the comfort of your bathroom at home — the vagina is more flexible than normal, and the blood works as a lubricant (you have our permission to tell your little sister to scram). We have a nifty video with detailed folding methods here.

Your Lunette is supplied with detailed instructions on how to use it as well.

Don’t forget, Lunette comes in a pretty, satin bag you can throw it in your backpack, so you’re prepared (and discreet) at school. You’ll get the hang of your cycle and its schedule after a few periods pass. It’s a good rule of thumb to carry Lunette with you a few days before you think your period's coming (so you’re prepared in between history and biology class!)

Need more info? Drop us a line and one of our Lunette lovelies will address any issue that might come up. We’re here for you, and again, welcome to the wonderful world of being a woman! [email protected]
